Can a foreigner buy property in Costa Rica?
Yes. Foreign buyers have the same ownership rights as Costa Rican citizens for the large majority of properties, and you don't need to be a resident to buy. A licensed Realty ONE Group agent can walk you through the specifics for any property you're considering.
Do I need residency to buy?
No. Property ownership and residency are separate — you can purchase as a non-resident. Many international owners explore residency options later, but it is not required to own property.
How does Realty ONE Group use AI in its listings?
We use AI to analyse photos, write listings natively in English and Spanish, order the photo tour, and run a pre-publish quality check — and a licensed agent reviews and approves every listing before it goes live. Our "How we use AI" page explains exactly what the AI does, and what it does not.
Why do you show prices in both USD and colones?
Each property is priced in its contract currency — US dollars or Costa Rican colones — and we show an approximate reference value in the other currency using the daily Banco Central de Costa Rica rate, so you always know roughly what a property costs in your currency. The reference figure varies daily; your agent confirms the exact price.
What areas of Costa Rica do you cover?
